Payer Terms — Paying through SP-Heavy
Effective: [EFFECTIVE DATE] · Version 1.0
You are reading this because you are paying a business through an SP-Heavy checkout page or payment link. This explains our role — which is narrower than it may appear.
1. Who you are paying
You are paying the business named on the checkout page, not SP-Heavy.
SP-Heavy, operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], provides the technology that moves your payment from your mobile-money account to that business. We are not the seller. We do not sell, ship, or deliver anything.
That means the business — not us — is responsible for:
- The goods or services you are buying
- Delivery, quality, and anything that goes wrong with them
- Their refund and cancellation policy
- Their own privacy policy and how they use your details
- Answering your questions about the order
2. How the payment works
- You enter your mobile-money number on the checkout page.
- Your operator — MTN or Orange — sends a prompt to your phone.
- You approve it on your own handset, using your own PIN.
- Your operator moves the money and confirms it to us.
- We record the payment for the business.
We never see or ask for your mobile-money PIN. Authorisation happens entirely between you and your operator. Anyone asking you for your PIN — by phone, message, or on a web page — is attempting to defraud you. Never share it.
3. What we do with your information
To process the payment we handle your mobile-money number, the amount, and the transaction status. We share these with your mobile-money operator, because the payment cannot happen otherwise.
For this data, the business you are paying is the controller and we act on their instructions. To exercise your data rights, contact that business first. If you cannot reach them, write to [PRIVACY EMAIL] and we will forward your request and help them answer it.
We also use transaction data for fraud prevention and to meet our own anti-money-laundering obligations. See the Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data, and the checkout page sets no cookies.
4. Refunds
Refunds are decided and initiated by the business you paid, under their own policy. We cannot refund you at our own initiative.
If a refund is issued, it is sent as a new transfer back to the mobile-money number that paid. It is not instant, and it can fail if your account cannot receive — in which case the business will need to arrange another way.
See the Refunds, Disputes & Reversals Policy.
5. If something goes wrong
Contact the business first. Their name is on the checkout page and in the confirmation message from your operator.
Contact us at [COMPLAINTS EMAIL] if:
- you cannot reach the business, or they will not respond;
- money left your account but the payment shows as failed;
- you were charged twice; or
- you believe a payment was taken without your authorisation.
Contact your mobile-money operator immediately if you think your account has been compromised. They control your account and can act fastest.
Our Complaints Procedure sets out timings.
6. Staying safe
- Check the business name on the checkout page before approving
- Check the amount in the prompt on your phone — it should match what you expect
- Never share your PIN with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from SP-Heavy, your operator, or the business
- We will never call or message you asking you to approve a prompt
- If a page or message feels wrong, stop and contact the business directly
7. Test payments
Checkout pages marked sandbox or test are for developers. No real money moves. If you have reached such a page expecting to buy something, contact the business — they have sent you the wrong link.
8. Our liability to you
We are responsible for processing the payment correctly. We are not responsible for the underlying purchase, or for the acts of the business you paid.
Nothing here removes your rights under consumer-protection law, or your rights against the business you bought from.
